The Dichotomy of Perception

In my opinion, there are two different ways to view the world. It is also the way people think about everything. One is the ‘deterministic’ or ‘descriptive’ viewpoint and the other is the ‘subjective’ viewpoint. Consider the way scientists or mathematicians view the world or think about various things. It's more in a sense of natural truism or some portion of the natural truism. There are constant reasoning and understanding of the logic behind things. The thinking is in terms of models, abstract behaviors, properties, causations, principles, interactions, complexity, and so on. This is what I want to call as the ‘deterministic’ viewpoint. One essential feature of this viewpoint is that things are seen and understood for their own sake in an objective passionless manner. While the subjective viewpoint which looks at things, not in terms of a natural truism but more evaluatory terms with its own moral-ethical ideological notions. Consider politicians, business person, or superstars, for instance, their thinking is in terms of power, money, name, fame, etc. Things here are very impassioned. The understanding of things is in terms of emotions that it will entail to self and others. Academia is about having the former mindset while normal life is mostly about living with the later worldview.
